Our practice explores portraiture and collaboration working in a documentary theme. Often exploring culture community and people. Within our projects we explore how images can be a way of communication to the purpose, narrative and context.
‘Tomorrow’s Sun’ focuses on the overcoming state from individual trauma and psychological impact. In collaboration within the social science department at BCU. We met, conversed and spoke to the group of 6 women and created a project on their personal trauma of domestic abuse. These 6 women are the few of many that will help raise a wider awareness and create social impact to help others through difficulties.
This is their journey, and throughout this project the 6 women had the freedom to expression on how they want to be seen.
Through a posed structed studio setting of portraits we a collaborative workshop with the women.  Focusing on how they can communicate their messages and reflect their own identity, story and trauma that they are starting to come over. Our mixed media let workshop saw the women experiment and develop new outcomes with personal drawings and text. With the permission of the 6 women, we adapted their work with our portraits to serve as balance from the portraits to communicate the moments of the now and the fragments of happiness that stays.
